Welcome to our Christmas Concert!Fresh from the success of our Autumn concert, we invite you to join us for a Christmas choral concert full of much loved carols and songs, performed in Perth's wonderful St Ninian's Cathedral.
Chansons will be singing traditional and familiar carols, and some old favourites set to new refreshing arrangements. We are joined by organist Howard Duthie, and a Jazz trio comprising Gordon Murch on piano, Paul Vaughan on bass and Andrew Fraser on drums. The first half includes the opening chorus from JS Bach's Christmas Cantata BWV63 'Christen, atzet diesen Tag', John Rutter's 'What sweeter music' and his popular arrangements of 'Sans Day Carol' and 'Quelle est cette odeur agréable?'. We also sing Hector Berlioz's classic carol 'The Shepherds' Farewell'. The second half of the concert includes a number of Christmas favourites set to new arrangements by contemporary composers Will Todd and Kirby Shaw. These include 'Hark the herald', 'Let it snow!', 'The Most Wonderful Time of the year','We Three Kings' and 'In the Bleak Midwinter'. There may even be a musical visit from our friend Rudolph the Reindeer! After the concert the audience is invited to stay for wine and mince pies to round off what promises to be a truly enjoyable Christmas Concert. |
