Bride

How long in advance do we need to book? As early as you like, but don't be put off if your wedding is in a few weeks' time, we can sometimes fit you in at short notice.

How many singers will you have? Usually we have a four-part choir of 10-12 singers.

When does the choir need to know the music to sing? Usually around a month before is fine but if there are any very unusual pieces, please let us know earlier.

Do you do secular weddings? We haven't done so far but would be happy to oblige.  Chansons is not affiliated to any church or denomination.

Does the Minister have a say in choosing the music? Generally the choice of music is up to you but you should discuss the format of the service fully with the Minister, including when there might be sung items, and the hymns to be sung, as he or she is in charge of the service.

Do you bring your own organist or can I ask the local church organist? Either is possible.  If the local organist is to play, then let us know his/her contact number so that we can discuss what is needed by way of choir accompaniment.  We will want to meet up with the organist either an hour and half before the wedding or on a previous evening to rehearse.  Alternatively we can usually arrange an organist to come with us, but do check if this is in order with the church.

Can a soloist do an item? This depends on choir member's availability but often we can arrange for a solo item.  Let us know whether you would prefer a male or female soloist.   Some items in our repertoire have a solo voice with choir backing.

Can I have a piper too? No problem, but take care to coordinate things so that the piper will not play outside the venue at the same time. A piper would be for you to arrange separately.

I don't know any classical music - how do I choose what is best? Our administrator has many years' experience of helping couples decide what music to choose. Remember, the music does not have to be 'classical' - it is your wedding and if you want something a bit different, then we will do our best to accommodate you. as the organ is playing or the choir singing inside.

Am I expected to offer hospitality to the choir? No, our job is to sing for you and we will slip away quietly.

When do we pay?  A £50 deposit is payable when the booking is confirmed. Chansons will send you a fee note after your wedding for the balance.  No one need worry on the day, there is plenty else to tend to. Afterwards.

Can you guarantee a sunny day? Sorry, no.  Only a musical one!
